You might ignore that your personal insurance or your provincial regime cover catheters or that you qualify for a better catheter. For example, several benefits of benefits offer better coverage for catheters you might think. Often it is enough:

1) Provincial disability protection program

2) Compensation for work accidents

If, following a workplace injury, you need catheters to control your bladder, theCSST (Quebec occupational health and safety committee) will provide for your catheters.

The recommendation of supplies/catheters by a doctor/urologist is subject to the CSST for evaluation. Decisions are made on a case -by -case basis.

3) Automobile insurance

Quebec Automobile Insurance Company

If you have suffered an injury after a car accident, you qualify for a warranty covering catheters.

SAAQ -Quebec Automobile Insurance Company

SAAQ will reimburse a hydrophilic catheter like Speedicath® With an order of an urologist and a justification.

4) Private insurance

Purchased individually, but often provided through health services programs offered by the employer. The reimbursement of catheters is determined on an individual basis or according to a police. It is important that you know exactly what your insurance covers. Ask your insurance provider if the reimbursement of your catheters is 100% covered, if there is an annual limit or if you have to share the costs (80% pay insurance and you pay the difference, or insurance of your spouse shares the costs).

Prior approval is usually required and a refund request may also require the following:

·         A doctor's prescription, attached to the first complaint or accompanying each request (ask your supplier)

·         A doctor's letter or faxin support indicating the diagnosis and the reason why you need a catheter and, in some cases, the approximate cost

·         the official receipt of the pharmacy/retailer to be subject to your insurer for reimbursement. Or, ask your retail pharmacy/store if it is possible to invoice your insurer directly.

5) Veterans

Ministry of Veterans Affairs
If you are a veteran with a disability linked to the military service, you could be eligible for the disability services of AGS (ACC).

There are two types of disability services:

Disability
For "traditional" veterans: those who served during the Second World War and the Korean War.

Disability allowance for veterans
For those who did not serve during the Second World War or the Korean War.

The veterans' disability allowance is a non -taxable package.

· Veterans have a Canada veterans' identity card called "K" card. The Ministry of Veterans Combators offers 14Advantages and services - choice programs (PDC). PDC 7 covers supplies for incontinence, including catheters. The veteran will have to apply for compensation for the injury or affection for military service so that the benefits related to the injury are on his health card.

· The veteran can call 1-866-522-2022 to ensure that PDC 7 appears on his health card. Otherwise he can make a request for the state of the bladder/intestine.

A medical prescription is required for catheters and the need for catheters must be linked to military service.

6) National Program for First Nations and Inuit

Ssna(Unpensured health services program), a national first nations and Inuit program.

The SSNA currently provides 36 catheters every 3 months. On the other hand, if you experience any of these problems:

Urinary tract infection
Pain
Urethra damage
Bleeding
Difficulty inserting the catheter

You could qualify for a better catheter option as well as more catheters per month.

 4. Go to your pharmacist/catheter supplier and give him the prescription of your doctor and the letter. He will complete the prior authorization request for SSNA medical supplies and medical equipment - General services and he will submit the three documents to the SSNA for their approval. Your supplier will probably have the SSNA form; Otherwise you can print a copy from this page.
